How we work
Tile is not waterproof and grout never was. What keeps water out of your framing is the membrane behind the tile, and in houses built before the 2000s there frequently is not one — which is why a shower that looks fine has a soft subfloor under it. We build the assembly first and tile onto it second.
A bathroom hides its condition better than any room in the house. We take up a section, photograph what is underneath, and show you before anything is ordered — because rot, old cast iron and a joist somebody notched for a drain are the three things that move a bathroom number, and all three are invisible until they are not.
A fan that dumps into the attic moves the moisture problem rather than solving it, and it is common in North Atlanta houses. We duct to the outside, size the fan to the room, and put it on a timer — because the cheapest way to protect your new bathroom is to stop it sitting wet for an hour after every shower.
